Memorial Day Bowling

We decided to take the kids bowling on Memorial Day at Cloverleaf Bowl.
Trevor has been once before, but this was Hayley's 1st time.

I helped Hayley with the 1st ball, but then she refused to let anyone help her anymore. She was able to hold the 6 pound ball all by herself.

This was the way Trevor bowled the 1st frame. He was able to hit 6 pins using this bowling stance and follow thru. Some bowlers have weird techniques, but get high scores.

Hayley was so determined to bowl the 2nd frame all by herself. We were not sure she could throw the ball, but she surprised all of us.

And even herself. The ball was a bit awkward for her, but she let it go just fine. Then she stepped over the line and slipped on the lane. She thought it was fun and we were thankful she was not hurt.

Trevor is really getting good at swinging the ball behind him to get ready for the release. He keeps asking us if he can get his own ball like Dad and Grandpa.

As the frames went on Hayley got better and better. At this bowling alley the bumpers come up when the bowler needs them and go down for the bowler that does not need them.

When Hayley bowled we all had to laugh because as soon as she released the ball she got into one of the above stances. She would stand like that until her ball went all the way done the lanes and hit the pins or went into the gutter. It was so funny.

We played two games, but the score of the 1st game was funnier than the second. Notice that both Trevor and Hayley beat Auntie Karen and I beat my dad's score. Trevor is almost 7, Hayley is only 3 and Karen is a bit older than that. My dad is the one in the bowling league and I only bowl using the Nintendo Wii.

Miniature Golf

On Saturday May 24 we went to Golfland in Castro Valley. This is where Trevor is going to celebrate his 7th birthday next month.

He decided we should have a practice round to see which course would be best for his friends. The Enchanted Journey was his pick for the family to play, but it proved to be a tough one.

Off to a good start on Hole #1.

Trevor got a 3 for this one.

Hayley gets to go first on Hole #2.

Hayley just hit (pushed) the ball into the hole.

She had more fun putting the ball in the hole and then taking it out again.

Even Dad was able to golf with us. Probably not the best thing to do in the boot cast, but he enjoyed himself.

Hole #4 proved to be hard for everyone, except Sean. I even tossed my ball into the house when the doors were open.

Step 1: Put the ball in the right spot.

Step 2: Swing the club and hit the ball
And always remember to keep "Do Not Swing Club Above Knees!"

Since Hayley was having trouble swinging the club below her knees I helped her.

When Hayley hit the ball up the ramp, but it did not go into the Light House. They did not realize that the holes next to the Light House also sent the ball to the lower playing area. The kids eventually found the ball and Sean and I were able to take our turns.

Trevor was amazed at the size of the hill for this hole. He did say we should play the other course for his birthday. We tried to tell him that before we started, but since he is almost 7 he is smarter than his parents. Or, so he thinks.

Hayley gets the ball ready and pauses for a picture for Mom. Let's see if she can practice what she learned on Hole #8.

Yeah! Hayley was able to swing the club and almost keep it below her knees. She is getting better.

Trevor lost another one...

On Friday, May 23 Trevor lost his 2nd tooth. I am keeping track of the order the teeth come out to see if it matches the order they came in. So far, we are 2 for 2. Trevor went to bed on Friday so excited that the Tooth Fairy would come, but in the morning Trevor woke up and was sad. The Tooth Fairy did not visit Trevor while he slept. I think it was because Trevor pulled the tooth out instead of letting it come out on its own. Sean says it was because Trevor went to bed sop late that night. He went to bed at 10:30 and not his normal 8:30. Either way the "Tooth Fairy" and his helper did not take the tooth and leave money. Luckily the Tooth Fairy did come visit Trevor on Saturday Night. He was very happy then.

Boo got a new hair cut a few weeks ago. Amy could not bring herself to pay over $4o for Boo to get his haircut when we only pay $10 for Trevor to get his cut. So Amy, Her sister Karen, and our friend Jennifer worked together and gave Boo his new dew. He was looking so old with his hair so long, but now he looks gray but young.

Boo loves to play with Sean and the kids, but loves to bark at me. When ever Sean tickles the kids, Boo tries to play along. When I tickle the kids the dog gets protective and barks like crazy until I leave them alone. It is rather funny, especially the time he jumped up and bit me in the bottom while I danced around with Hayley. That is another day's story though. Maybe when Sean and Trevor stop laughing they can share it with you. Sorry no picture though.

South Dakota, Here we Come...

We have not been to South Dakota since July 2006 and have not seen Sean's parents since November 2006. Our reason for not being able to go sooner has always been the price for the airfare as we have never found airfare for less than $1500 when we just paid for Sean, Trevor and I. With Hayley it jumps to $2000. Well, this past week God was helping us with our Internet Search and we found airfare for all 4 of us for $694. That was totally amazing and a true blessing from God. We will fly into Omaha, Nebraska (non-stop) and then have a 4 hour car ride to South Dakota. The long car ride is okay since we saved so much on airfare.

We printed our Itinerary and took a picture for Gary and Terry. We uploaded to their Ceiva site and a picture automatically downloaded to their picture frame. In the process of making the picture Sean thought it would be good to sit on the kid's play table so he would be at a good height for Trevor and Hayley.

Well, it took several shots to get a good picture and by that time the table had collapsed. The noise scared Hayley and she started to cry. Sean is laughing behind Hayley. Our little tough girl did not like the loud crash and thought Dad got hurt. Sean was fine and after a bit so was Hayley.
How dirty can one little girl get? This is a question we ask ourselves every time we got to the ball field for Trevor's game.

See loves to throw the dirt in the air and let it land on her legs. She also like to put it on her legs and pretend she is burying herself. She is definitely a hands on girl. She is not one that can't stand to get dirt on her. On the contrary she puts it on herself.

In case you couldn't read the shirt it says,
"Life Time Member of the Time-Out Club."
