Trevor turns 8....

Trevor's birthday was today and he celebrated with a round of Mini Golf with his good friend Erick, who just happened to be celebrating his birthday today too. Although they share the same birthday, Erick turned 9 today and Trevor turned 8. They met when Trevor was in Kindergarten and Erick was in 1st grade. They were in a Kinder/1st Grade combo class. They have also been on the same baseball team for 3 years. The first year they played it was just chance that they ended up together, but since then we have requested it.

On hole 2 Trevor got a hole-in-one.
Well, it took him 3+ tries to get the ball to go around the ramp, but then it went right into the hole. He was totally amazed and yelled hole-in-one.

Erick didn't fare the same when it was his turn. His ball, and Hayley's on her turn, kept going under the ramp. Finally the two of them just threw the ball towards the hole.

Erick was first up on this hole and hit the ball beautifully over the water hazard and onto the other side right next to the hole. Trevor was up next and after about 3 times of it landing in the water he made it to the other side. Hayley went last and had a bit of trouble.

Hayley's ball kept landing in the water so Trevor and Erick came to her rescue. After about the 4th time I finally told her to throw it over the water hazard so we could move on.

All 3 kids were having trouble hitting the ball into the houses with moving doors so they decided to hit from a closer spot, the actual ramp. They said they were purposely disobeying the rules to have more fun. Oh well, they weren't hurting anyone.

This was taken just before hole 17. I thought the water in the background made for a good picture. I just warned them not to fall into the water.

Trevor and Erick had a great round of golf.
We are glad we were able to do this together with Erick's mom, Denae.

In the evening after dinner we sang Happy Birthday to Trevor. When asked what type of cake he wanted for his birthday he said a Brownie Cake, so that is what I made him.

After singing Trevor tried to blow out the candles and didn't extinguish any of them. I joked with him that maybe he needed a breathing treatment and then he could try again, but he said no and moved locations.

From the side he was able to blow out all 8 candles and we shared the Brownie Cake.

Happy 8th Birthday, Son!
We love you very much and are extremely proud of you.

Celebrating Trevor's 8th birthday on 06/20.

He will actually turn 8 on June 26, but to accommodate several friends who also need to celebrate their child's birthday at the end of June and beginning of July we all got together and selected dates that would work for everyone involved. This way we can all be there to celebrate each kid's birthday. It is a fun time of year, but figuring out all the dates can be very interesting. We have to do this again for Hayley's birthday, since she is right near cousin Dylan's birthday and Labor Day. We always find a way to celebrate everyone and that is what matters most.

Since we had so many kids coming to help us celebrate we decided to rent the small bounce house this year. NOT! We rented a huge bounce house and both kids and parents had a blast bouncing and being crazy.

Kalia was so cute.
Here she is bouncing with Tammy and Alexandra looking on.

Natalie and Hayley being brave with the big kids and the even bigger kid, Sean.

DJ taking a breather after coming down the slide. This boy is so quick. He would go into the bounce house and next thing you know he is sliding down the slide. From 0-60 in seconds.

Sean had a bit of trouble getting out of the bounce house.
Good thing I had the camera ready.

Hayley came barreling down at me.
I took the picture and Wham! there she was.

Trevor showed us the best way to get down the slide.

Silly sliding with Natalie.
Ready, Set...

GO!

After sliding down on my belly with Natalie I decided we should go down the slide the proper way. The only problem was that it is very hard to "slide" down when you are not as light as a kid.

Aiden was so brave. Check out how high he is bouncing. He seemed to really enjoy himself. He is one of the July Birthday boys.

Showing off his new Tech Deck toys he received from Alexandra and Xavier. He also received Bakugan toys from them as well. They really know what he is into these days.

Trevor being silly as he opened his new water gun from his baseball buddy DJ. The water gun came with different color dye packs so the water you shoot can be colorful.
NOTE: The dye will stain even though it says it is washable, so be warned.

Woo Hoo!
The Montoya family made Trevor smile from ear to ear by giving him some money.
Thanks Jeremiah, Theresa, Noah, Adam, Mateo and Grandma Alice.

Trevor's good friend Erick, who shares a June 26 birth date with Trevor, gave him this Bakugan tin to hold all his Bakugan items in. Let's hope he actually uses it and puts them away..

The Ott Family (Evan, Devon, Aiden and Keagan) gave Trevor a Spiderwick Chronicles book and some Pokemon cards. They picked the two items, beside money, that Trevor loves: Reading and Pokemon. (picture taken by Devon)

Trevor received the Star Wars Lego set from his friend Benjamin who goes to our new church. Benjamin and Trevor are both in 2nd grade and have quickly become very good friends. Benjamin's brother, David, who also came to the party picked out a water gun for Trevor. Thankfully that one shoots normal color water. If that even made sense.

After most of the kids had gone home Trevor, Rhay and DJ went back into the bounce house. At first they were playing so calmly, but then...

they found a fun new way to play.
I am not sure who figured it out first, but here is DJ jumping from the side of the slide on to the blow up obstacle course and flying off. What crazy boys.

Boo even tried to take a turn in the bounce house.
He was quickly chased out by Sean though.

Rhay taking his turn at the obstacle.

I think the obstacle won this round.

I love this picture.
Poor DJ was being poked in the side by Hayley's leg and then Rhay climbed on top of him.

We had a great day.

Cake and Favors

On Friday, June 19 Trevor and Hayley helped Sean decorate Trevor's birthday cake. Hayley helped by mixing all the different colors of frosting. Normally I bake the cake and then Sean decorates it, but this year we decided to let Costco do the baking and Sean the deocrating. Trevor picked out the items he wanted on his cake and off Sean went creating.

Here is the finished product.
Although I did not get a picture of it, Trevor helped Sean with the outlining of Mario and the shapes and also filling them in with color.

Sean and I, being huge Disney fans, thought is was rather funny when he opened the chocolate frosting on Friday for the cake and found the above swirled inside. We showed it to Trevor and Hayley who both immediately said, "It's a Hidden Mickey." Way to go kids.

We ordered the party favor boxes online and filled them with various Super Mario items. I made the above candy bar wrappers for all the kids and their parents. We filled the boxes with things like Nintendo/Mario shaped gummie candy, Super Mario bubblegum, Super Mario shaped sweet tart candy, Super Mario notepads, Super Mario character key chain, Super Mario stickers and pencils.

The parents this year also received their very own Super Mario notepad. There was a HUGE mix up when I ordered the party supplies and although I was assured that I would only receive the 24 notepads I had ordered for the kids, I received just a few more than expected. When I opened the box there was 160, yes 160 notepads inside. Yeah for us!

Hayley Graduates Preschool

Here they are coming in to class.
The teacher introduced them graduation candidates. There was 25 kids in total and about 100 family and friends to cheer them on.

Hayley was the 2nd one to enter the classroom and the 2nd to get her diploma.

The kids sang a song called "Each of us is a Flower." It was so cute. Most of the kids knew the whole song and the hand motions. Those who had trouble just watched and followed along with Mrs. Nancy and Mrs. Eileen. I wish we would have recorded the song instead of just still pictures.

I went online to find the words since Hayley had trouble remembering them.
They are ...

Chorus:
Each of us is a flower
Growing in life's garden
Each of us is a flower
We need the sun and rain.

Each of us is a flower
Growing in life's garden
Each of us is a flower
We need the sun and rain.

Verse:
Sun, shine your warmth on me
Moon, cool me with your night
Wind, bring the gentle rain
Earth, take my roots down deep.
Chorus

Shaking Mrs. Eileen's hand.

Receiving her Kindertots Diploma from Mrs. Nancy.
Too bad I took the picture with the diploma in front of her face.

Here goes our little Kindergartner. She will start school on July 21.

She was so excited that she received a diploma.
She doesn't even know what it is, but still she was excited.

Hayley wanted to have her picture taken with her teachers so she could look at them later. She enjoys going through our family pictures and remembering what things we did.

Since Mrs. Eileen and Mrs. Nancy were also Trevor's Preschool teachers I asked for a picture of all 4 of them. I think the kids both enjoyed their time in Kindertots.

Here is the picture we took of Trevor on his Preschool Graduation on June 8, 2006. Wow, now we have a 3rd grader and a Kindergartner.
