Good News, Bad News

Good news is that Trevor got to be the goalie today in their soccer scrimmage. It was his first time and he did really well. He stopped many balls from going and and used his body several times to get a hold of the ball. We were very proud of him, as were his coaches. Not many of Trevor's teammates showed up for practice so his team only had 5 players (out of 11). The other team played with 5 to make it fair, but they had more players to rotate in. Trevor's teammates did so good considering they did not have anyone to relieve them when they got tired.

Bad news is that the other team didn't always play fair and on one attempt at the goal they continued to kick at the ball even though Trevor had it in his hands for some time. When they did this one of the kids kicked Trevor in his hand and caused the ring finger on his left hand to be pushed sideways towards his pinkie. It hurt really bad, but Trevor would not let the coach take him out. He wanted to help his team. As the first half went on we noticed that he kept holding his left hand and we continued to ask if he was okay to which he said YES. When the half came, he walked off the field and took off his goalie gloves. It was then that we all realized how bad Trevor was hurt. His ring finger was swollen from the big knuckle back towards his hand. He could not bend his finger very much and was hurting a lot. We decided that Sean would take him to the doctor just to make sure it wasn't injured more than just jamming it.

Well, the doctor had x-rays done of his hand and said on initial review of the x-ray she thinks it might have a small break. She said the area around his knuckle looked weird (different) and she wanted the radiologist to review the x-rays. We should receive a call tomorrow (Friday) from the radiologist telling us if it in fact has a break or not. We will keep you posted.

P.S. Trevor said I had to post the picture.
