1st Game - Angels vs. Twins

Our first game of the season was against the T.A.L.L. Twins.
With 6 practices under our belt before today's game the kids were ready to go.

Trevor was able to play catcher 3 times in today's game. He said he really liked it and would like to play this position again in other games.

Trevor got hit in the hip with the ball, but decided to keep batting instead of taking his base. Two more kids on our team and 1 from the Twins were hit while batting as well. Each kid was asked if they wanted to take their base or continue batting, and each chose to keep batting. Tough little players.

Trevor hit this ball and was able to run safely to first base. He was so excited.

As was his friend and team mate Erick who made it to 2nd on Trevor's hit. I thought it was funny that Erick was jumping up and down in excitement.

Trevor did in fact open his eyes when the next batter hit the ball and he had to run to 2nd base. I was just lucky enough to catch him in mid-blink.

Trevor was able to pitch for one inning. If the batter could not hit off one of the 6 pitches Trevor threw then that player's coach would finish up the pitching. If the batter swung at 3 pitches and did not hit them he could strike out. This is what happened to the first batter Trevor faced. Although Trevor struck him out, the pitches were not good to swing at in the first place. This is what all the kids needs to work on: watching and swinging ONLY at the good pitches. Trevor could throw the ball far enough to cross the plate, but still needs work on controlling the ball. All the kids need practice pitching as this is new for them.
